PLATYPUS I - The only video on YouTube, really.
Behold, Platypus II. And if you haven't played the first one and are not one to pay for your casual games, you now have 120 minutes total play available of free claymation goodness. If you're lucky, you'll get the timer glitch and you'll be able to play unlimited for your first load.
Strangely the ship select screen sports a remake of none other than Rob Hubbard's "Sanxion" theme [addendum: March 27 2007, credits claim that Hubbard actually worked on the music]. A great classic C64 song composed by the legend of Commodore music, and an idol of mine.
What doesn't help, though, is that yesterday I had played some Ikaruga and watched that Mushihimesama Futari Boss video again. So for the first few minutes of Platypus II, I had a hard time giving up dodging the falling snow.

I've always had a thing for claymation/plasticine games. They're a rare breed, and I didn't know they were possible until the day I saw The Neverhood on a Microsoft Demo CD of Internet explorer.. version 2.. I believe. If you are an avid gamer, and like to venture in alternate styles, you should not miss The Neverhood. I'm having a hard time sitting through it's PlayStation sequel Skullmonkeys, as I've never been a fan of any horizontal platformer that requires me to jump over any holes.. I suck at them (Yes, that includes Mario Brothers, but you can read all about that on nostyleja.com once I get around to start filling it with the content sitting in innumerable spur of the moment text files). However, I will eventually see this Skullmonkeys thing through to find out what happens to our hero Klaymen, who looks like a cousin of Earthworm Jim (same creator). And while I'm name dropping, why not mention Clay Fighters, a disaster of a game made for the SuperNES that still managed to muster up a fanbase.
Hope this has inspired a few of you to look into claymation games. As usual, I feel I'm talking to myself here and preaching to the choir, but if you regularly attend the church of games, make them comments.

I tried embedding some YouTube. Worked in the preview, but was refused at posting level, someone hates me, I know it.
